Advanced Mapping Overview

Advanced Mapping gives you the flexibility to send data to most Salesforce objects related to Contacts, Accounts, and Opportunities.

Advanced Mapping is the logic that powers the NPSP Data Importer tool. Advanced Mapping gets your data to the right place, whether you use a Gift Entry form, an Elevate donation form, or import a spreadsheet.

Advanced Mapping is already set up to handle typical import, Gift Entry, and Elevate donation form scenarios involving constituent and donation data. For most organizations, very little or no customization of Advanced Mapping is needed.

If you want to add a custom field to a Gift Entry or Elevate form, or import data into a custom field that hasn’t yet been mapped, you’ll need to customize Advanced Mapping.

Note Making customizations to Advanced Mapping has the biggest payoff when you plan to use the customized mappings repeatedly. If you’re doing a complex, one-time import of custom data, consider a strategy that doesn’t involve the NPSP Data Importer tool, such as Data Loader.
