Deleting Contacts
This article describes how deletion works in a new Trial org with NPSP.

When you delete a Contact with Contact Delete Override enabled, NPSP deletes Opportunities (if the Contact is the Primary Contact), Recurring Donations, and Relationships in addition to standard Salesforce detail records.
What Happens When I Delete a Contact (with Contact Delete Override Enabled)?
When you delete a Contact with Contact Delete Override enabled, NPSP deletes Opportunities (if the Contact is the Primary Contact), Recurring Donations, and Relationships in addition to standard Salesforce detail records.
If the Contact is not the last in the Household, and they have Closed/Won Opportunities or Organization Opportunities (where the Account is set to something other than the Contact's Household or One-to-One Account), then you can't delete the Contact. Additionally, if the Contact is the last in the Household, and they have Closed/Won Opportunities or Organization Opportunities, you can't delete the Contact and leave the Account empty. You must manually delete the Opportunities before deleting the Contact.
If the Contact is the last Contact in the Household or One-to-One Account, NPSP prompts the user to either delete the Contact and leave the Account empty OR delete the Contact and the Account.
