Standard Field Mapping for Legacy Recurring Donations
When NPSP creates child Opportunity records for a Recurring Donation, it copies the value of several fields from the Recurring Donation onto the Opportunity records. This is a big time saver, as it means you don't have to manually enter values for all those fields on each Opportunity record.

Standard Field Mapping
This table describes how NPSP maps fields from the Recurring Donation to its child Opportunity records when the Recurring Donation is first created.
If you edit the Recurring Donation record, NPSP deletes and re-inserts any related open stage Opportunity records, which can result in lost data.

| Amount | Amount | For Fixed-Length Recurring Donations, the Opportunity Amount depends on the value of both the Schedule Type and Installments fields. If Schedule Type is set to Multiply By, then all related Opportunities inherit the same value as the Recurring Donation Amount. If Schedule Type is set to Divide By, then all related Opportunities inherit an equal fraction of the Recurring Donation Amount. For example, if a Recurring Donation Amount is $2400, and the Installments field is set to 12, NPSP sets the amount of each Opportunity to $200. |
