Configure Data Access for Volunteers for Salesforce

Configure Data Access for Volunteers for Salesforce

Determine how volunteers interact with information on your website, and who can access data.

  • Introduction
After you've created a Site, configure the data access settings so that volunteers can interact with your Site's contents.
  • Configure Site Guest User Access for Volunteers
The System Admin must select Grant Guest Users Update Access in Volunteer Settings to allow guest users to update records shared with them.
  • Configure Data Access in Organization-Wide Sharing Defaults
Establish the recommended baseline data access for all of your Salesforce users, including your website visitors.
  • Define Sharing Rules
If you have an existing Volunteers for Salesforce org that has been upgraded to the Salesforce Winter '20 release and have enabled the Secure Guest User Record Access setting, create sharing rules to give guest users access to your records.
  • Configure Data Access for Visualforce Pages
Volunteers for Salesforce is built on Visualforce, which is a way to create custom user interfaces for Salesforce objects and data. Configure access to Visualforce pages for your volunteers user profile.
  • Configure Object and Field Permissions in Public Access Settings
The last step in configuring data access is making sure your Site's public access settings give permission to read, create, and edit the dozen or so objects that Volunteers for Salesforce needs to do its job.
