          Volunteers for Salesforce and Your Salesforce Instance

          Volunteers for Salesforce uses some standard Salesforce objects—Contacts and Campaigns—to manage volunteers. Volunteers for Salesforce also introduces custom objects into your Salesforce org.

          Type of ObjectObject NameDescription
          Standard Contact Represents a volunteer.
          Campaign Represents a volunteer event or initiative.
          Custom Volunteer Job Tracks jobs to fill and skills needed.
          Volunteer Shift Tracks dates, times, and number of volunteers needed for a job.
          Volunteer Hours Tracks the hours a volunteer spends with your organization.
          Job Recurrence Schedule Sets up a series of recurring Shifts for a job.
          Volunteer Recurrence Schedule Sets up a recurring schedule for a specific volunteer on a specific job.

          Important
          Important The Volunteers for Salesforce articles assume that the Admin for your org performed all required setup. If you see differences in the way your instance looks, or you notice fields are missing, talk to your Admin and point them to that documentation.

          Getting Around in Volunteers for Salesforce

          You can find the Volunteers for Salesforce app in the App Launcher.

          1. Click the App Launcher ( App launcher icon ) at the end of the navigation bar in Salesforce.
          2. Click Volunteers.

          Within the Volunteers app, you see the Volunteers tabs.

          Tabs that show up in the Volunteers app
          • Volunteers Help—Go to the V4S Help page.
          • Volunteers Wizard—Create new Campaigns, Jobs, and Shifts.
          • Volunteer Jobs—Manage volunteer Jobs.
          • Shift Calendar—See all volunteer Shifts in a calendar view.
          • Find Volunteers—Filter volunteers to find the right one for the Job.

          New Fields Added to Standard Objects

          Contacts in Volunteers for Salesforce are used to track volunteers. It's important to have additional data on those Contacts that is specific to volunteer management.

          Volunteers for Salesforce introduces these new fields on Contacts:

          • Volunteer Status
          • Volunteer Skills
          • Volunteer Availability
          • Volunteer Hours
          • Volunteer Notes
          • Volunteer Organization
          • Volunteer Manager Notes
          • First Volunteer Date
          • Last Volunteer Date
          • Volunteer Last Web Signup Date
          • Volunteer Auto-Reminder Email Opt Out
          Volunteer fields on the Contact record

          Volunteers for Salesforce introduces these new fields on Campaigns:

          • Number of Volunteers
          • Volunteer Completed Hours
          • Volunteers Still Needed
          • Volunteer Jobs
          • Volunteer Shifts
          • Volunteer Website Time Zone
