Give Partners Permission to Establish a Connection with the Vendor Org
Before Partner Connect allows a partner admin to establish a connection with a vendor
org, the vendor admin must first acknowledge the partner admin as a trusted contact. To do so, the
vendor admin must assign the Partner Admin Approved for Vendor Org Connection permission set to
the partner admin. Vendor admins must repeat this task each time they want to connect with a new
partner Salesforce org.
Required Editions
Available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise and Unlimited
Editions with Sales or Service. Vendors must purchase a PRM add-on license for the partner admin
user and each partner user who exports records. Partners aren’t required to purchase
PRM licenses to use Legacy Partner Connect.
User Permissions Needed
To assign permission sets to users:
Customize Application
Before assigning the Partner Admin Approved for Vendor Org Connection permission set to your
partner admin, create a partner user that represents your partner admin. See Establish the Vendor-Partner Relationship
in Salesforce.
The Partner Admin Approved for Vendor Org Connection permission set includes two user
permissions.
The Establish an Approved PRM External Integration user permission acknowledges that the
partner admin is a trusted contact on behalf of whom Salesforce creates a named credential in
your org. The named credential verifies the secure connection between orgs by using the
External Client App service.
The API Enabled user permission lets the partner admin use Partner Connect to make API
requests to your org via the Partner Connect external client app. This permission is required
to let Partner Connect share data across the vendor and partner org according to the
integration settings that you put in place during Partner Connect setup.
Warning Assign the permission set only to trusted individuals
whose identity you can verify. To establish the connection, the partner admin must access Setup
from their own org. Consider verifying with the partner company that the person you select is a
person who is assigned the Customize Application permission in their org.
From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter PRM, and then select
Partner Connect for Vendors.
Under Configure, find the Give Partner Admins Permission to Connect section, and click
Go to Permission Sets.
From the Permission Sets list, find the Partner Admin Approved for Vendor Org Connection
permission set and assign it to the partner admin that you want to connect with. See Manage Permission Set
Assignments.
After giving partner admins permission to connect, you're ready to invite the partner admin to
establish the connection. Doing so sends an email to the partner admin, inviting them to
complete your connection request from their org.
