Select Vendor Objects and Fields to Integrate with the Partner’s Salesforce Org

Select Vendor Objects and Fields to Integrate with the Partner’s Salesforce Org

After inviting a partner to connect, vendor admins must select the objects and fields that they want to integrate with their partner’s Salesforce org. During this step, vendors indicate which objects and fields contain data that they want partner users to be able to export. Vendors also select which field updates are sent and received across orgs and where the read-only partner version of the record is stored. Then we email the partner admin, asking them to select the objects and fields that they want to map to yours.

          Required Editions

          User Permissions Needed
To set up Partner Connect in a vendor org: Customize Application

Before selecting objects and fields for integration, agree on a plan for mapping objects and fields with your partner. If you’re planning to send and receive updates across orgs, create the necessary fields on Connected External Lead and Opportunity to store updates.

          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter PRM, and then select Partner Connect for Vendors.
          2. Under Connect, find the partner company connection that you added. From the Select Objects and Fields for Integration step, click Select.
          3. Select an object that you want to integrate with your partner’s org, and click Next.
Partner users can export records on the object that you select. Your partner can export only the records that your Experience Cloud site’s sharing settings, organization-wide access levels, and object and field security let the partner see.
          4. Select the fields that you want to integrate with your partner’s org. Map all required fields.
If the partner admin maps the same fields during their Partner Connect setup, data from the fields that you select in this step are included on the records that partners export from your partner site.
          5. For each field in which you want updates to flow between the vendor and partner org, select the checkbox for Send & Receive Updates. You can send and receive updates on up to 10 fields per object.
Updates from the partner's org are sent to the Connected External Lead or Opportunity object in your org. Updates from your org are sent to the partner's Connected External Lead or Opportunity object.
            Note
Note The Account Name and Primary Campaign Source lookup fields on the Opportunity object are exceptions. A vendor can propose these fields for integration, but a partner can see only the name of the referenced field. These lookup fields don’t support sending or receiving updates.
          6. For each field that you elect to send and receive updates, select a corresponding field from the connected external object where you want to store this field data locally. Then click Next.
          7. Enter the email address of your partner admin and click Send Email.
We send an email to the partner admin to let them know it’s time for them to select objects and fields to map to yours.
          8. To integrate another object, click Select from the partner company connection and repeat steps 3–7.

After you select objects and fields for integration, it can take some time for your partner admin to complete their field mappings. Partner users can’t export records from your vendor site until all vendor and partner setup steps are complete.

After your partner admin is done with field mapping, you can assign partner users the permissions to start using Partner Connect. Salesforce doesn't notify you when partner field mapping is complete, so check in with the partner admin if they don't follow up.
