Set Up Legacy Partner Connect as a Vendor

Set Up Legacy Partner Connect as a Vendor

Vendor admins kick off Partner Connect setup for vendors and partners by enabling the feature and preparing objects for partner record storage. Then vendor admins can invite partners to connect and select the objects and fields they want to integrate with each connected partner. If vendors want to store read-only versions of their partner's records locally, vendor admins must also prepare Partner Connect objects.

Available in Lightning Experience in Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Sales or Service. Vendors must purchase a PRM add-on license for the partner admin user and each partner user who exports records. Partners aren’t required to purchase PRM licenses to use Legacy Partner Connect.
          1. Turn On Legacy Partner Connect as a Vendor
To get started with Partner Connect, vendor admins must first turn on the feature from Setup.
          2. Prepare Legacy Partner Connect Objects for Connected External Records
To let your users see and track the progress of shared leads and opportunities, you can opt to store a read-only version of the other org’s record in your own org. The Connected External Lead and Connected External Opportunity objects store these read-only records. Learn how vendor and partner admins can prepare the connected external objects to make sure they're ready to save the read-only records for Partner Connect.
          3. Add Export Buttons to the Vendor’s Partner Site
To let partner users export records from the vendor’s Experience Cloud partner site to the partner’s Salesforce org, vendor admins must add the Export to My CRM button to object list views
          4. Invite a Partner to Connect to Your Vendor Org
Use Partner Connect to invite a partner admin to connect with your vendor org.
          5. Add Connected External Object Related Lists to Leads and Opportunities
If you opted to store read-only record updates made by users in the other Salesforce org, you must make those records available to your users. We recommend adding Connected External Lead and Connected External Opportunity as related lists to your Lead and Opportunity page layouts. Doing so lets users view their peer’s version of the record in the context of your org’s version of that same shared deal.
          6. Give Partner Users Permission to Use Partner Connect
When vendor admins are ready to roll out Partner Connect, vendor admins must give partners the permission to export records from your Experience Cloud partner site. We also recommend verifying that partner users have permission to customize list views. That way, partners can add the Export Status field to their list views, so they can see which leads and opportunities have been exported to the partner org already. Salesforce admins don’t have access to the Export Status field, so you can’t add the field to list views on partner users’ behalf.
