Connect Your External Apps to Salesforce Suites

Before you can sync your data between Salesforce and external apps, establish a connection to the app.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Starter Suite and Pro Suite Editions
User Permissions Needed
To add a connection to an external app: Admin user profile

Your setup path depends on whether you start from a prebuilt flow template. Follow the path that matches your integration.

Note
Note Before you begin, make sure that you have administrator login credentials for the external app that you're connecting to.

Set Up a Connection by Using a Prebuilt Template

Use this path when you connect to an app that offers a prebuilt template, such as Google Sheets, HubSpot, Jira, QuickBooks Online, or Zendesk.

  1. Add a connector to your external app with the guided wizard.
  2. Set your flow's input values for Jira and Google Sheets integrations.
  3. Turn on the flow so that your data starts syncing.
  4. Turn off a flow when you no longer need it, if applicable.

If your flow uses custom fields, grant profile access so that your users can see the fields on their record pages. See Grant Profile Access to Custom Fields.

Set Up a Connection Without a Template

Use this path to build a flow from scratch when connecting to an app that doesn't offer a prebuilt template.

  1. Add a connector to your external app without the guided wizard.
  2. Build a flow to move data between Salesforce and your external app.
  3. Turn on the flow so that your data starts syncing.
  4. Turn off a flow when you no longer need it, if applicable.

If your flow uses custom fields, add them to your page layout and grant profile access so that your users can see the fields on their record pages. See Add Custom Fields to Your Page Layout and Grant Profile Access to Custom Fields.
