Clone and Activate Data Processing Engine Definitions

Clone and Activate Data Processing Engine Definitions

Advanced Rebate and Accrual Management uses a coordinated sequence of six Data Processing Engine definitions to move, transform, and aggregate high-volume data between Salesforce Core and Data Cloud. Administrators must manually clone and activate these templates before running advanced accrual processing. Once cloned, you can customize the definition's nodes, variables, and aggregation logic to meet your business requirements.

Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions that have Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced enabled.

Key Configuration Rules

  • Verify Process Type when cloning: The six DPEs use two different process types.
    • When cloning the Delta Calculation and Rule Processing DPEs, set the Process Type to Accruals And Payout Engine.
    • When cloning the Rule Configuration, Data Preparation, Source Generation, and Status Update DPEs, set the Process Type to Rebate and Accrual Management Advanced.
  • Do Not Map to Rebate Types: Leave the Calculation Definition field on your Program Rebate Type records blank. In the Advanced engine, the six Data Processing Engine definitions run on Data Cloud as Batch Transforms rather than being triggered by a record-level Calculation Definition lookup. The DPEs are still required. Leaving this field blank simply prevents the classic record-level calculation from running.
  • Run DPEs in sequence: The advanced calculation process requires running the cloned DPE templates manually, or by scheduling a flow, or via custom automation in their exact operational sequence (Advanced Rebate and Accrual Pre-Processing - Rule Configuration > Advanced Rebate and Accrual Pre-Processing - Data Preparation > Accrual and Payout Engine - Delta Calculation > Accrual and Payout Engine - Rule Processing > Advanced Rebate and Accrual Post-Processing - Source Generation > Advanced Rebate and Accrual Post-Processing - Status Update) to successfully generate and aggregate your accrual sources.
