Set Up Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization with AI Tools

Set Up Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization with AI Tools

Use these steps to set up timesheets and labor cost optimization with Claude or Agentforce Vibes and the Salesforce CLI.

Before you begin, confirm that Claude or Agentforce Vibes and the Salesforce CLI are installed and that the agent is connected to your org as an authenticated admin user, along with technician and supervisor details ready. See Requirements.

Initialize and authenticate.

  1. Start the agent and enter the prompt setup time sheet end to end.
  2. When the agent locates the recipe and asks whether to proceed, type Yes.
  3. If the agent prompts you to authenticate the MCP server against your org, open a separate terminal window and run sfdx org login web to log in through your browser. Return to the agent terminal when authentication finishes.

Assign permissions.

  1. When prompted, choose how to assign permissions, directly with Permission Sets or with Permission Set Groups.
  2. Provide the requested details for the users who act as the Time Logger (technician), Time Approver (supervisor), and admin.
  3. The agent assigns these permission sets:
    • Technician user: Labor Cost Optimization Resource and FieldServiceMobileStandardPermSet
    • Time Approver (supervisor) user: Labor Cost Optimization Supervisor
    • Admin user: Labor Cost Optimization Admin

Turn on Labor Cost Optimization settings.

  1. The agent enables the core Timesheet settings: Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization and Enable UI and App Builder for Timesheets.
  2. When the agent asks about optional features (such as Mobile Crew Lead Time Management), confirm your choice in the CLI.
  3. If the agent asks whether to update specific field values (such as the End Time Rounding Threshold in minutes), provide the new value and the agent updates it.

Configure the Field Service mobile app.

  1. The agent checks the org for an existing Field Service mobile app configuration.
  2. If none exists (or a Timesheets-specific one is needed), the agent creates a Mobile App Configuration, sets its status to Published, and assigns it to the Standard User profile.
  3. The agent adds a tab named Timesheet to the mobile app configuration and embeds the timesheetLandingPage Lightning web component in it.

When the agent finishes, an admin can validate the permission assignments, settings, and mobile app configuration in the Salesforce UI.
