Set up Permission Set Groups for Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization

Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization is built for the Field Service Technician and Supervisor personas. Assign the right permission sets for the admin, supervisor, and technician permission set groups and assign them to users to allow Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization access.

Field Service Resource Permissions

  1. Assign the Labor Cost Optimization Admin permission set to yourself as the system administrator.
    1. From Setup, find and select Users.
    2. Click your user name.
    3. Click Permission Set Assignments.
    4. Click Edit Assignments.
    5. Move the permission sets that you need from the Available Permission Sets column to the Enabled Permission Sets column.
      For example, move Labor Cost Optimization Admin to the Enabled Permission Sets column.
    6. Save your changes.
  2. Create the Supervisor permission set group, add permission sets to it, then assign the group to supervisors.
    1. From Setup, find and select Permission Set Groups.
    2. To create a new permission set group for supervisors, click New Permission Set Group
      Alternatively, you can select an existing permission set group for your supervisors.
    3. Enter a name for the permission set group, then save your changes.
      For example, enter Supervisor for Field Service.
    4. Click Permission Sets in a Group, then Add Permission Set.
    5. Click Labor Cost Optimization Supervisor permission set, click Add, then click Done.
    6. Go back to the permission set group page.
    7. Click Manage Assignments.
    8. Click Add Assignments, then select the usernames of who you want to assign as supervisors.
    9. Click Assign, then click Done.
  3. Create the Technician permission set group, add permission sets to it, then assign the group to technicians.
    1. From Setup, find and select Permission Set Groups.
    2. To create a new permission set group for technicians, click New Permission Set Group
      Alternatively, you can select an existing permission set group for your technicians.
    3. Enter a name for the permission set group, then save your changes.
      For example, enter Technician for Field Service.
    4. Click Permission Sets in a Group, then Add Permission Set.
    5. Click Labor Cost Optimization Resource permission set, click Add, then click Done.
    6. Go back to the permission set group page.
    7. Click Manage Assignments.
    8. Click Add Assignments, then select the usernames of who you want to assign as supervisors.
    9. Click Assign, then click Done.
  4. Create a service resource record.
    Create service resources — individual technicians who can attend customer appointments — so that you can assign appointments to users.
    1. From the App Launcher, find and select Service Resources.
    2. Click New.
    3. Enter a name and select the user that you want to assign as a service resource.
    4. In Resource Type, select Technician.
    5. Select Active.
    6. Save your changes.
