Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization Setup with AI Tools

With an AI agent working headlessly through a command-line interface, a Salesforce admin configures Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization for Field Service without clicking through each Setup node manually.

Directed from a command-line coding tool, such as Claude Code or Agentforce Vibes, the agent assigns the required permission sets to the technician, supervisor, and admin users. It then enables the Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization settings and configures the Field Service mobile app with a Timesheet tab.

Instead of stepping through permissions, feature settings, and mobile configuration one at a time, the admin directs the agent to run the setup end-to-end, then verifies the result in the Salesforce UI.

Because the agent sequences permissions, feature settings, and mobile app configuration in one guided run, the admin avoids configuring dependent steps out of order.

Scenario

Maya, an Energy & Utilities operations admin, must set up Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization in an org that already has Field Service installed so technicians and supervisors can log and approve time fast.

She doesn't want to navigate multiple Setup areas, such as assigning permission sets across technician (Time Logger), supervisor (Time Approver), and admin users, turning on feature settings, and building a mobile app configuration with the right tab and component. In those areas, steps are easy to miss or perform out of order.

She prompts an AI coding agent from the command line to set up timesheets end-to-end. The agent assigns the required permission sets, enables Timesheets and Labor Cost Optimization settings, and creates a published Field Service mobile app configuration complete with a Timesheet tab.

What normally takes hours of multi-page setup clicks becomes one guided conversation, leaving the org with proper user permissions and a mobile timesheet experience ready for admin validation in the Salesforce UI.
