Prepare for System Maintenance
To prepare for maintenance events, review these tips.
- Enable Enhanced Domains.
- Update hard-coded references that refer to your instance name (for example, https://NA10.salesforce.com) in integrations, email templates, and customizations to generic or relative URLs.
- Use Salesforce Extensions for Visual Studio Code to search for hard-coded references in your code base.
- If your company restricts Salesforce IP addresses, check that the current Salesforce IP address ranges are allowed on your network or email security filters. Alternatively, add Salesforce domains to your allowlist.
- On your local network, set your DNS timeout value to 5 minutes.
- Reschedule large jobs set to run within 72-24 hours of maintenance.
- Communicate downtime with users.
Maintenance should be seamless, but watch for these common issues.
- If you experience integration issues, restart the integration to clear the DNS cache and detect the new instance IP address.
- If you cache certificates, download the latest certificates on the Certificate Changes Trailblazer group.
