Migrate an Existing Data Processing Engine Template to Data Cloud

Migrate an Existing Data Processing Engine Template to Data Cloud

Migrating the existing Rebate Data Processing Engine (DPE) template to Data Cloud involves exporting the definition as a JSON file, modifying specific metadata tags to change the execution engine, and importing it back into the Salesforce environment as a Data Cloud-native DPE.

          Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions

To migrate a DPE template to Data Cloud, complete these tasks in order.

          1. Export the Data Processing Engine Template: Export the JSON definition file from an existing CRMA-based DPE.
          2. Modify the JSON Configuration: Update specific structural parameters in the JSON configuration file via a text editor.
          3. Initialize the New Target Engine Container: Configure a baseline target container within Salesforce Setup.
          4. Import the Structural Overrides: : Upload the modified JSON file to construct the nodes dynamically.
          5. Finalize and Verify the Migration: Finalize and verify the DPE runtime on Data Cloud.
          • Export the Data Processing Engine Template
Export the JSON definition file from an existing CRMA-based Data Processing Engine (DPE) so that you have the configuration to modify for Data Cloud.
          • Modify the JSON Configuration
Update the keys in the exported Data Processing Engine (DPE) template JSON so that the definition targets Data Cloud instead of CRM Analytics.
          • Initialize the New Target Engine Container
Create a baseline target Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition that runs on Data Cloud. This container receives the modified JSON configuration that you import in the next step.
          • Import the Structural Overrides
Upload the modified JSON file to the new engine container. The ingestion process parses the configuration and structures the Data Processing Engine (DPE) nodes automatically.
          • Finalize and Verify the Migration
Confirm that the migrated Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition maps to Data Cloud objects, verify the Data Cloud execution badge, and activate the definition to finalize the migration.
