To create an engagement attribute: Loyalty Management

Before you create an engagement attribute, understand how some key fields in a Loyalty Program Engagement Attribute record work.

Field Details
Status You can only edit the end date of an attribute whose status is either Active or Inactive. Ensure that you correctly defined your attribute before you change its status from Draft to Active.
Start and End Dates Decides the lifespan of an attribute. A member's progress is only tracked for an attribute during this lifespan.
Value Reset Frequency and Reset Value On

Decide the length of each period.

  • Value Reset Frequency: Decide the frequency at which new periods are created.
  • Reset Value On: Specify the exact day on which a new period is created.

For example, if the reset frequency is Monthly and the value is 15, it means that the first period lasts from the start date to the 15th of the next month. The second period starts from the 16th of the next month and ends on 15th of the month after.

Default Value Enter the default value that's provided to members for the engagement attribute during the start of each period and after the member's value is reset after they achieve the target during a period.
Target Value Enter the value that a member must achieve to be eligible for a reward.
Maximum Reset Count Per Period

Enter the number of times that a member's progress is reset to zero after they achieve the target during a period.

For example, if you want to reward a member up to two times for achieving the target during a period, enter the target value as 2.

Overwrite Attribute Current Value

Select whether you want to track a member's progress for each period individually or for the complete lifespan of the attribute.

For example, if you select the checkbox, one Loyalty Program Member Attribute Value record is used to track the member's progress during the attribute's lifespan. If you don't select the checkbox, a Loyalty Program Member Attribute Value record is created for each period.

  1. On the Loyalty Program tab of the Loyalty Management app, select the program for which you want to create an engagement attribute.
  2. Click Setup.
  3. On the Loyalty Program Engagement Attributes related list, click New.
  4. Define your engagement attribute.
If you want to use engagement attributes as resources in conditions of loyalty program process rules, ensure engagement attribute names don’t contain special characters.
  5. Save your changes.
Example
Example

An engagement attribute tracks the number of times that members purchase from the company's app each month and every member's progress is tracked for each month individually. The target value is three and members can be rewarded for achieving the target twice a month. Here are more details about the engagement attribute:

  • Name: App Purchases Per Month
  • Start Date: January 1, 2022
  • End Date: December 31, 2023
  • Value Reset Frequency: Monthly
  • Value Reset On: 31
  • Target Value: 3
  • Maximum Reset Count Per Period: 2

After you create engagement attributes, use these actions in Loyalty Program Process Rules to update members' progress for the engagement attributes:

  • Update Current Value for Member Attribute
  • Get Member's Attributes Values
  • Associate Engagement Attributes with Promotions
You can create engagement attributes that track member engagement for a specific promotion. For example, you can create an engagement attribute that tracks the number of items that members purchased during a promotion that runs every year on Cyber Monday.
