Some attributes reference data from other objects, such as data subject and contact point information. Mapping tells Global Consent Manager where that data comes from, so it can capture a snapshot each time you create or update a consent record. Attributes that come from Global Consent Manager don't need mapping. Attributes that reference external data are paired as an ID and a value, such as Brand ID and Brand Value. Map both attributes in a pair together.
Reference data can change over time. If a referenced record is later updated, a snapshot keeps the consent record accurate by preserving the value from when consent was captured. In each pair, the ID attribute identifies the referenced record, and the value attribute stores that snapshot.
