Customize Consent Purpose Picklist Values

Define the legal or business reasons that you capture consent, such as a specific data processing action or marketing communication.

Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. Requires the Privacy Center license.

Unlike Consent Status, the Consent Purpose list is empty by default because these reasons are unique to your company's compliance requirements. Build out the list to match the purposes you want to track.

  1. From the App Launcher, find and select Privacy Center, and then select the Global Consent tab.
  2. Under Configuration, select Attribute Management.
  3. In the Consent Purpose section, add a value for each legal or business reason you capture consent.
    For each value, select a required Consent Type. Select Communication Consent for messaging, such as an email newsletter subscription. Select Action Consent for data processing, such as AI profiling.
  4. Save your changes.
