Create Activity-Based Currencies with Mixed-Expiration Subcurrencies

Set up currencies and subcurrencies that use the Activity With Mixed Subtypes expiration model to control how points expire.

Create a Currency

To use activity-based expiration for parent currency points while using fixed or activity-based expiration for subtypes, create a loyalty program currency with these values.

  • Currency Type: Non-Qualifying
  • Expiration Model: Activity With Mixed Subtypes

After you create the currency, create subtypes. For currencies with the Activity with Mixed Subtypes expiration model, you can credit and debit points only from subcurrencies.

Note You can't change the expiration model from Activity With Mixed Subcurrencies to any other expiration model, or vice versa.

Create Currency Subtypes

Before you create subcurrencies, review these considerations.

  • When you create activity-based subcurrencies, they inherit the expiration configuration of the parent currency.
  • When you create fixed duration subtypes, specify values for expiration period, expiration period unit, and expiration extension. See Create a Loyalty Program Currency.
  • Loyalty Management ignores Usage Priority values on subcurrencies during debit actions.
