Activity-Based Currencies with Mixed-Expiration Subcurrencies
Optimize financial liability and drive member engagement by creating currencies that
use the Activity with Mixed Subcurrencies expiration model. This model provides members with
long-term value from their activity-based expiration points while encouraging the timely
redemption of fixed-expiration points. It also provides liability control across partners and
promotions by using point traceability.

Use Case
Let's say you want reward points that don't expire as long as
members stay active, but you want promotional and partner points to expire within a specific
timeframe to expedite usage. Here's how to set up the currencies.
Create a parent currency, Member Points, with the Activity with Mixed Subcurrencies
expiration model.
Create a subcurrency, Reward Points, that inherits the activity-based expiration from the
parent.
Create two subcurrency, Promotion Points and Partner Points, with fixed-duration
expiration.
When members redeem points, point traceability maps every debited point to its
originating source subcurrency.
Set Up Loyalty Program Processes and Actions After you create currencies and their subtypes, create loyalty program processes or use invocable actions to credit and debit subcurrency points.
How Loyalty Management Consolidates Subcurrency Point Balances When members transact, Loyalty Management uses Loyalty Aggregated Point Expiration Ledger records to consolidate point balances based on currency, subcurrency, and expiration date. The system performs real-time aggregation for all subtypes regardless of the settings on the Loyalty Management Settings page.
Run Data Processing Engine Definitions After you create currencies that use the Activity With Mixed Subcurrencies expiration model, run the Data Processing Engine definitions required to expire currencies and roll over escrow points.
Track Redemptions and Associated Accruals with Traceability Trace consumed points to their originating source by using traceability loyalty ledger records. Traceability records map target debit ledgers to source Loyalty Aggregated Point Expiration Ledger records. If a single debit ledger consumes points from multiple aggregate ledgers, Loyalty Management creates a dedicated traceability record for each aggregate ledger from which points are consumed.
