A loyalty program can offer these types of games to its customers and loyalty program members:
| Game Type | Customer Experience | How the Game Is Designed In Salesforce |
|---|---|---|
| Spin The Wheel | Customers can spin a virtual wheel and the wheel segment where the pointer stops shows the reward that the player receives. | A game definition record represents the game. Game reward records represent the rewards offered by each segment of the wheel. You can add only one reward for each wheel segment. |
| Scratchcard | Customers can scratch a virtual card and the card reveals the reward that the player receives. | A game definition record represents the game. Each reward that the scratchcard offers is represented as game reward records. |
Select the reward type in the game reward record as No Reward for instances where a wheel segment or a scratchcard outcome doesn’t offer a reward to participants.
Create a Game
Here's how you can map your business requirements to key game definition fields when you create a game definition record:
| Business Requirement | Game Definition Configuration | Purpose | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ensure that only select customers can play the game and the game isn’t available to all customers. | In the game definition record, select Game Assignment Required. | The Game Assignment Required checkbox ensures that only the customers who are assigned the game are eligible to play the game. Use this option if you want to offer the game to customers after they complete a specific eligible activity. |
|
| Ensure that all customers can play the game. | In the game definition record, don’t select Game Assignment Required. | Use this option to offer the game to all customers without placing an eligible criteria for the game. | A game that’s available for all customers in the Game Zone on the mobile app. |
| Ensure that customers are assigned the game during a specific period. | In the game definition record, select the start date and the end date. | The start and end dates decide the period during which a game can be assigned to customers. To design an evergreen game that can be assigned to customers at any time, select a start date but not an end date. |
A game that’s assigned to customers between Black Friday and Cyber Monday. |
| Ensure that customers complete the game within a specific amount of time after they start the game. | In the game definition record, in the Timeout Duration field, enter the number of seconds within which customers must complete the game. | The timeout duration decides the number of seconds after a customer starts the game after which their game session times out. | A game that customers must complete within 120 seconds of starting the game. |
| Ensure that customers are eligible to play the game for a fixed duration after they’re assigned the game. | In the game definition record, use the Expiration Period Unit and Expiration Period fields to define the period for which customers are eligible to play a game after the game is assigned to them. | The expiration period ensures that the games that customers don’t play before the end of the expiration period automatically expire. After a game expires, customers can't play it. |
|
| Ensure that the game can be assigned and played by customers. | In the game definition record, select the status as Active and ensure that the game start date is set to the date from which customers can play the game. | The Status and the Start Date fields ensure that games aren’t available for customers to play before the brand is ready to offer the game to customers. | A game that only goes live for customers to play on March 15. |
- From the App Launcher, find and select Game Definitions.
- Click New.
- Define the game and save your changes.
After you create a game, add its rewards. You can add a game’s rewards on the Game Rewards tab in a game definition record.
Add Game Rewards
Here's how you can map your business requirements to key game reward fields when you create a game reward record:
| Business Requirement | Game Reward Configuration | Purpose | Example |

| Offer customers vouchers as game reward. | In the game reward record, select Voucher from the Reward Type field and select Voucher Definition from the Reward Definition field. | You can set up a process to issue the voucher to the player who wins the reward. | The reward offers customers the Free Cheesecake voucher. |
| Offer loyalty program members points as game reward. | In the game reward record, select Loyalty Points from the Reward Type field and select the loyalty program currency for which you want to credit points from the Reward Definition field. | You can set up a process to credit points to the player who wins the reward. | The reward offers loyalty program members 100 points. |
| Offer customers a reward that’s unique to your brand. | In the game reward record, select Custom Reward from the Reward Type field. | You can set up a process to provide the custom reward to the player who wins the reward. | The reward offers customers a gift card. To issue custom rewards like gift cards, set up an integration with the external system where you manage custom rewards. |
| Offer customers a fixed number of points. | In the Reward Value field of the game reward record, enter the number of points. | The reward can offer the player a fixed number of points. | The reward offers customers 150 points. |
| Add an image and color for each segment in the virtual wheel of a Spin The Wheel game. | In the game reward record, specify the image’s location in Image URL and the color code in Color. | The reward has your brand’s custom branding in the virtual wheel segment. | The Free Cheesecake segment in the wheel segment has an image of a cheesecake. |
| Add the probability of customers winning a reward when they play the game. | In the game reward record, enter the win probability percentage in Win Probability. | The win probability percentage determines the chance of customers winning the reward. You can enter the win probability as a percentage and the cumulative value of the all rewards in a game can be 100%. |
The reward’s win probability is 25% because the reward is provided to players at every fourth attempt. |
| Ensure that each reward is only rewarded until the reward is available in the reward inventory. | In the game reward record, in Maximum Reward Count, enter the number of times the reward can be offered to players. | The reward is awarded to members a fixed number of times. After the reward reaches its limit, the reward is no longer offered to customers. |
The reward can be provided to the first 500 winner. |
| Add one reward that doesn’t offer customers anything. | In the game reward record, from Reward Type, select No Reward. | The reward supports use cases where you don’t want to offer customers a reward for playing the game. | A segment in the wheel or a reward option in the scratchcard shows Better Luck Next Time. |
