Can I turn off Clean Metadata Deployment after I turn it on?
Salesforce doesn't recommend that you turn off the Clean Metadata Deployment setting. If your implementation still requires the setting to be turned off, contact Salesforce Customer Support. Any Omnistudio components deployed with namespaces might not work after you turn it off. For more information, contact Salesforce Customer Support.
Do both the source org and the target org need Clean Metadata Deployment turned on?
Yes. Both orgs must have the feature turned on. A deployment from a source org that uses the new metadata to a target org that uses the legacy metadata isn't supported.
Does the new metadata store all versions of a component, or just one?
The new metadata stores only the active version of a component for deployment. If there are no active versions, the new metadata stores the most recent active or deployed version.
How are the active and inactive versions of a component deployed?
Active versions are deployed as active, and inactive versions are deployed as inactive, based on the metadata payload. This creates a version of the deployed component. If the destination org already has the active version of the deployed component, the active version in the destination org becomes inactive.
If I hard delete a component from the Omnistudio designer, does the new metadata delete it too?
Yes. If the deleted component is the last version available in the Omnistudio designer, the component is deleted from the metadata too.
If I deactivate all versions of a component, does the new metadata delete it?
No. Deactivating all versions doesn't delete the component.
Does turning on the Clean Metadata Deployment setting affect the legacy metadata?
Yes. The old metadata and definitions in the Omnistudio standard objects remain as-is, and they continue to get updated along with the new metadata. For more information, see Omnistudio Standard Objects and Omnistudio Metadata API Types.
If I previously installed Data Mappers using 2GP with a namespace, can I turn on Clean Metadata Deployment?
No. Turning on the Clean Metadata Deployment setting fails if you installed Data Mappers using 1GP or 2GP with namespaces. Contact Salesforce Customer Support for more details.
When the Clean Metadata Deployment setting is turned on, can I delete or uninstall packages when the Omnistudio components in that package are active?
No, you can't delete or uninstall packages. This behavior avoids any disruption in the production org. The system shows an error message when you attempt to delete the package.
When the Clean Metadata Deployment setting is turned on, should I deactivate all Omnistudio components before I delete or uninstall packages?
Yes. Deactivate all Omnistudio components included in that package before you delete or uninstall the package.
Can I hard delete Omnistudio components when they're deployed using 1GP or 2GP packages?
No, you can't hard delete your Omnistudio components if you deployed them using 1GP and 2GP managed packages and 2GP unlocked packages with namespaces. You can deactivate or activate the components, as required.
