Portability Policy Considerations and Limitations

When handling data subject access requests and creating and using portability policies, there are guidelines and limitations to consider.

Available in: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited Editions with the Privacy Center license.

You can use the Portability API to run a portability policy, but you can’t use it to retrieve information about the policy’s configuration because the objects aren’t available via API.
You can use the GET method for Portability API to retrieve the link for downloading the file of compiled data, but you can’t use it to retrieve the contents of the file.
You can add an unlimited number of objects to a portability policy, but a generated file for the coordinating data subject access request can only have up to 1 million records.
Generated files for a data subject access request don’t include files and attachments, even if the coordinating portability policy includes objects with files and attachments.
Select fields for every parent and related object in your portability policy. If no field is selected on an included object, the policy doesn’t save.
