Penny Perfect Pricing Glossary of Terms
Key terms used throughout the Pricing Components and Data Model, Set Up, and Pricing Scenarios sections.
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Anchor Type | On a Pricing Key Type, the checkboxes that define which common context dimensions (Account, Account Hierarchy, Product, Product Hierarchy, and optionally Internal Organization Unit) participate as lookup keys. |
| Base | On a Pricing Specification, the attribute a scale or tier is measured against — Value, Quantity, or Weight — for example, a volume discount scaled on Quantity. |
| Business Rules Engine | The builder (opened via the Expression Set Versions link on a pricing metadata record) used to configure the underlying Expression Set logic for Pricing Key Types, Search Strategies, Pricing Specifications, and Calculation Schemas. |
| Calculation Schema Determiner | Maps business context (Order Pricing Type and Internal Organization Unit) to the correct Pricing Calculation Schema, routing each transaction to the right pricing logic. Created directly, or generated automatically when a Procedure Plan Definition is activated. |
| Condition Level | On a Pricing Specification, whether a condition is evaluated at the order line level (OrderItem) or the order level (OrderHeader). Can't be set to OrderHeader when Base is Quantity, since quantity-based scales are evaluated per item. |
| Context Definition | The record (for example, AdvOrderSalesTxnContext__stdctx) selected on a pricing metadata record that defines the runtime context its Expression Set logic evaluates against. |
| Data Processing Engine (DPE) | The Salesforce platform engine used to run the External Pricing Key Value Consolidation job, which consolidates ERP-loaded condition data into the optimized lookup view used at runtime. |
| Expression Set / Expression Set Version | The Business Rules Engine metadata entity, opened from a pricing record's Expression Set Versions link, where the record's calculation or search logic is built and activated. |
| External Pricing Key Value | A pricing data object, loaded from your ERP, that stores condition master records: rates, currency, validity dates, and merge keys. |
| External Pricing Key Value Consolidated View | A system-generated (Data Processing Engine) lookup table that aggregates External Pricing Key Value and External Pricing Key Value Tier data into an optimized, high-performance structure for runtime queries. |
| External Pricing Key Value Consolidation | The Data Processing Engine job that builds the External Pricing Key Value Consolidated View from imported condition and tier data. |
| External Pricing Key Value Tier | A pricing data object, loaded from your ERP, that stores scale and tier threshold boundaries for volume-based pricing conditions. |
| Internal Organization Unit (IOU) | A business context attribute, alongside Order Pricing Type, used to route orders to the correct Pricing Calculation Schema and to scope pricing metadata and condition data. |
| Key Attribute Mapping | On a Pricing Key Type, the mapping of each key attribute (Key 1 through Key 10) to its context attribute mapping tag, used to define custom, flexible lookup keys beyond the standard Anchor Type dimensions. |
| Merged Key Value | The consolidated lookup key (or combination of individual key values) used on imported condition master and tier records to match a pricing condition to a specific key combination. |
| Meta Type | On a Pricing Specification, the calculation behavior of that element — for example, Price, Percentage, FixAmount, Minimum, or Maximum. |
| Order Pricing Type | A business context attribute (Standard or Contract) used, together with Internal Organization Unit, to determine which Pricing Calculation Schema applies to an order. |
| Pricing Calculation Schema | Defines the complete, ordered sequence of calculation steps performed during order pricing: step execution sequence, references to pricing specifications, interim subtotal storage, and stop-processing logic. |
| Pricing Key Type | Defines the combination of context attributes (up to 10 keys, such as Account, Customer Group, Product, or Sales Org) that form the lookup keys used for pricing condition queries. |
| Pricing Search Strategy | Defines the prioritized sequence of search steps (a waterfall) used to find matching prices, evaluating from the most specific key combination to least specific fallbacks, with exclusive (stop on first match) or non-exclusive execution. |
| Pricing Specification | Defines an individual pricing element (such as Base Price, Customer Discount, Freight Surcharge, or Sales Tax) and its calculation behavior: rounding precision, price impact (Positive or Negative), and the Search Strategy used for condition lookups. |
| Pricing Waterfall | The step-by-step log, viewable on the Pricing Details tab, showing which conditions were evaluated, applied, or excluded during price determination for an order. |
| Procedure Plan (Procedure Plan Definition) | The Setup record that acts as the schema determination engine, specifying which Pricing Calculation Schema runs for an order based on Order Pricing Type and Internal Organization Unit/Sales Organization. Activating it generates the underlying Calculation Schema Determiner records. |
| Scale Condition | On a Pricing Specification, the Tier Type governing how a scale is applied: From/To (a single matching tier applies) or Graduated (each tier's discount accumulates progressively). |
| Search Sequence | On a Pricing Search Strategy step, the numeric value controlling execution order; lower numbers execute first. |
| Tier Threshold Value | On imported scale/tier condition data, the boundary value that defines where one pricing tier ends and the next begins. |
