Consent Record Details

Use this section to determine how preferences submitted by the user are saved to the consent record. The fields you configure here don't appear on the preference form.

Give your new or updated consent record a unique name. When a user submits the form, the name that you enter in the Consent Record Name field is saved to the associated consent object. For example, the Detailed consent template saves the user's preferences to the Contact Point Consent record, which stores the consent record name.

Use dynamic fields to indicate the type of detail that you want to include in the consent record name. For example, if you want your brand name to appear in the record name, enter {!brand} in the Consent Record Name field. Click Suggested dynamic fields to see a list of fields that you can use from the record to populate the consent record name.

Specify the information that you want to store on the consent record using these fields.

  • Capture Contact Point Type: represents the channel type used to capture the consent data.
  • Consent Capture Source: represents additional details about the consent capture method. For example, if you selected Web as the capture contact point type, you can enter a website URL where the form is hosted.
  • Consent Expiration Date: determines when the user's consent data expires and must be updated.

Content Display Options

Use this section to customize the text on the form to reflect your brand. Give your form a fun title, an informative description, and a unique submit button.

Brands

For brands included in the consent template, you can change the display name, give an optional description, and change their order of appearance.

Your options for the display name and description are populated from text fields on the Business Brand objects that you included in the consent template. To create more options for the display name and description, go to your Business Brand objects and create custom fields.

Data Use Purposes

For the data use purposes included in the consent template, you can change the display name, give optional descriptions, and change their order of appearance.

Your options for the display name and description are populated from text fields on the Data Use Purpose objects that you included in the consent template. To create more options for the display name and description, go to your Data Use Purpose objects and create custom fields.

Communication Subscription Channel Types

For the communication subscription channel types included in the consent template, you can change the display name and description. Your options are populated from the text fields on the Communication Subscription Channel Type object that you included in the consent template. To create more options for display name and description, go to your Communication Subscription Channel Type object and create custom fields.

Example
Example If your brand name is Global Media Solutions, enter {!brand} and Global Media Solutions appears in the record name. Hover over the Suggested dynamic fields option to see the dynamic fields that can be used from the record.

You can also save information to the consent record about the contact point type and the source used to capture consent.

Your users can set the consent expiration date to never expire or to any relative or specific date. And users can submit a preference form with an expiration date that has passed.

Note
Note The consent record captures the date the consent is effective from and the date and time that the consent was captured. These fields are captured in UTC, or the Coordinated Universal Time zone. When you access the consent record, the date and time are converted to your local time zone. Because the Effective From field only captures the date, the time zone conversion can cause the Effective From field to appear different from the Consent Captured Date Time field.

Channel Types

Choose how the consent channel options appear on the preference form. The checkbox, radio button, and toggle options are simple selections to opt in. The opt-in radio button option shows an opt-in and opt-out selection for each channel type on the form with the option to customize the text for both selections.

Consent Fields

Customize the names of the fields that are tracked on the object associated with your basic consent template. Edits that you make here change the field names on the form but don't affect the field names in Salesforce records.

Unsubscribe All

Add an option to your form where users can unsubscribe from all communications with one selection. Choose to display the option as a panel with a button or as a checkbox selection. Customize the section title, description, labels, and placement on the form.
