Sending Emails in Salesforce Suites

Salesforce Suites give you more than one way to send an email, and each way defines its audience differently. Knowing which one you’re in explains what you see when you pick your recipients.

Required Editions

Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Free, Starter and Pro Suite Editions.

Use this table to find the right starting point for sending an email.

When You want to… Your Audience Comes from… Start Here…
Send a sales email to a group of leads or contacts The filtered list view itself The Leads or Contacts list view in the Sales app
Send a marketing email to a list of leads or contacts, without building a campaign An Actionable List The Leads or Contacts list view in the Marketing app, or the Actionable Lists tab
Send a marketing email as part of a campaign A segment The campaign record in the Marketing app
Note
Note Because the sales app and the marketing app send emails using different mechanisms, your recipient options look different depending on which type of email you’re sending. That difference is expected.
  • Actionable Lists in Salesforce Suites
In the Marketing app, the List Sends feature targets an Actionable List, which is a saved collection of leads or contacts. Because the recipient list comes from an Actionable List instead of a segment, your email goes out without waiting on Data 360 processing.
  • Choose Recipients to Email with List Sends
Use the Send Email button on a list view to start the List Sends email flow. Choose whether to send a sales or marketing email. Then, define your recipients, craft your message, and send your email. The List Sends tab provides a unified table where marketing users can view, search, sort, and act on all list emails—both marketing (promotional) and sales (relational).
