FAQ: Digital Wallet Fundamentals

FAQ: Digital Wallet Fundamentals

Learn how Digital Wallet works and how to interpret the information it provides.

How often does Digital Wallet refresh my consumption data?

Digital Wallet processes usage data in near real-time, typically updating multiple times per day. Most consumption data refreshes every few hours under normal conditions. Exact timing can vary because data flows from multiple distributed services across the Salesforce platform. Initial provisioning, contract changes, or new product enablement can take 24–48 hours to reflect fully.

Important
Important Use Digital Wallet for operational monitoring, reporting, and observing consumption patterns over time. For official billing and payment decisions, always refer to your monthly statements and invoices. If the information in Digital Wallet differs from your invoice, your monthly statement is the definitive source of truth for consumption details.

The Last Processed timestamp indicates the most recent time Digital Wallet successfully processed new usage data for that specific product and associated consumption card. If the system refreshes but no new usage is recorded, the timestamp doesn’t change. In cases where the Last Processed timestamp is more than 48 hours old despite confirmed active usage, contact Salesforce Customer Support to investigate if a processing issue exists.

Why does Consumption Insights show gaps or no data for certain date ranges in the bar chart?

The homepage card summary (Credits Consumed and Credits Remaining) provides the latest and most reliable usage and balance snapshot. Data gaps in the bar chart can occur in several scenarios:

Scenario 1: The product was recently enabled in Digital Wallet.

When a product migrates to Digital Wallet, detailed daily charts only exist from the migration date forward. The homepage summary shows your correct cumulative totals, but daily breakdowns are empty for earlier dates.

Scenario 2: Your org was recently provisioned.

Data gaps are expected in new orgs in the first few days while initial data processing completes.

Scenario 3: The lookback window extends beyond your contract start.

Selecting "Last 90 Days" when your contract started 30 days ago means that there’s no data for the first 60 days.

Scenario 4: A product feature is unmetered.

Some features previously metered can become unmetered when you upgrade SKUs. With unmetered, no billing usage is recorded, so no data appears.

What time zone does Digital Wallet use to display my data?

All usage and dates for consumption data are stored in Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) time, and then converted to your org’s default time zone when reported in Digital Wallet.

What this means:

  • Your user profile is set to Pacific Time but your org’s default time zone is Eastern Time. In this case, Digital Wallet shows Eastern Time.
  • Daily bars in consumption charts are bucketed by the org's calendar day.
  • Your org changes its time zone setting. In this case, all Digital Wallet data realigns to the new time zone.

Although Digital Wallet uses the org’s time zone, time zone settings can vary across other Salesforce products. For example:

  • If you use Developer Console to query the consumption data, it returns raw data in UTC.
  • If you open Data Explorer to view consumption data, it shows usage data in the user’s time zone.
