Remove a Subagent from Your Agent

Make sure that your agent continues to deliver helpful and relevant responses by removing subagents you no longer need.

          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience
Available in: Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, and Developer Editions. Required add-on licenses vary by agent type.
          Note
Note Beginning in April 2026, agent topics are now called subagents. There are no changes to functionality. During this transition, you may see a mix of the new and previous terms in our documentation.
          User Permissions Needed
To remove a subagent from an agent: Manage AI Agents AND the required permissions for your agent type

To make changes to your agent, it must be in a draft state. If you want to make changes to a committed agent version, create a draft.

          Note

These steps cover how to remove a subagent from an agent in Canvas view, but there are a few ways to remove a subagent in Agentforce Builder.

          • Ask Agentforce to remove a subagent for you. You can accept or decline any changes.
          • Remove the subagent in Script view.
          1. From the Agents list in the Agentforce Studio app, open the agent you want to remove a subagent from.
          2. From the Explorer panel, under Subagents, hover over the subagent you want to remove from your agent.
          3. Click Ellipsis menu icon, and then click Delete.
          4. Delete any references to the subagent from other subagents, including the Agent Router.
The subagent is automatically removed from the Agent Router's reasoning actions.
          5. Save your changes.

The subagent and any associated actions are removed from your agent, and any customizations you made to the subagent are deleted. If you added the subagent to your agent from the asset library, an independent copy of that subagent was added to your agent. Removing the subagent from your agent doesn’t delete the subagent from the asset library.
