Considerations for Data 360 Reports on Calculated Insights
Keep these considerations in mind when working with Data 360 reports on calculated insights.
Calculated Insight Reports
Keep these considerations in mind when building reports on calculated insights.
- Measures are treated as aggregates and dimensions are treated as groupings, and they aren’t interchangeable. All possible aggregates (measures) and groupings (dimensions) are added to reports by default.
- To create a report from a calculated insight, you must include at least one aggregate measure with a non-text data type and at least one dimension. You can’t create reports on calculated insight that don’t have measures or dimensions.
- To include non-aggregatable measures in a report, first include all the dimensions from the calculated insight.
- A calculated insight report displays as a summary report without details.
- A calculated insight report doesn’t show grand totals and row count.
- You can’t add row-level and summary formulas to a column.
- You can’t perform aggregates, such as sum, min, max, and average on a measure.
- Non-aggregatable measures in a report don’t show subtotals.
- To build a report on a calculated insight with more than five dimensions, include at least one aggregatable measure in the report.
- For calculated insights with more than five dimensions and both aggregatable and non-aggregatable measures, you can build reports with up to five dimensions and all aggregatable measures. To add a dimension when five dimensions are present, delete an existing dimension from the report.
- You can’t remove a grouping from a report with only non-aggregatable measures.
- When you remove a dimension from the report, all non-aggregatable measures are also removed. When you add a dimension back to the report, you must add the measures you want.
- You can’t export a calculated insight report using the Details Only option.
Charts in Calculated Insight Reports
Keep these considerations in mind when adding charts to a calculated insight report.
- When you remove a dimension or measure from the report that is included in its chart, the chart refreshes to display valid data if possible. Otherwise, the report doesn’t display the chart anymore and you can’t add another chart to the report.
- You can’t add non-aggregatable measures to the report’s chart until you add all the dimensions to the chart.
- Data 360 dashboards have all the restrictions that a report chart has. Additionally, the tabular, metric, and gauge components aren’t available for a calculated insight report.
This table shows different scenarios for working with charts in Data 360 reports and the considerations to keep in mind for each of the scenarios.
| Number of Dimensions in the Report | Number of Dimensions in the Chart | Type of Measure in the Report | Default Behavior | Unavailable Chart Types | Considerations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 dimension | 1 dimension | Non-aggregatable measures and aggregatable measures | The chart displays the non-aggregatable measure. Both aggregatable and non-aggregatable measures are available in the chart editor. |
|
|
| 2 dimensions | 1 dimension | Non-aggregatable measures only | The chart displays both dimensions. |
|
You can’t remove the dimensions from the chart. |
| 2 dimensions | 1 dimension | Non-aggregatable measures and aggregatable measures | The chart displays the aggregatable measure by default. | You can’t add non-aggregatable measures to the chart until you add the second dimension. | |
| 2 dimensions | 2 dimensions | Non-aggregatable measures and aggregatable measures |
|
||
| 3 or more dimensions | Non-aggregatable measures only | You can’t add a chart to the report. | |||
| 3 or more dimensions | Non-aggregatable measures and aggregatable measures | The chart displays the aggregatable measure. Only aggregatable measures are available in the chart editor. |

Calculated Insight Reports in Dashboards
Keep these considerations in mind when adding a calculated insight report and chart to a dashboard.
- All calculated insight report and chart behavior applies to the dashboard components using them.
- Tabular, metric, and gauge components aren’t available.
