Share a Chatter Post
Sharing lets you quickly copy a public post to your profile or a group. This feature is available in Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience.

In Salesforce Classic, you can share public Chatter posts that contain text, links, or files. You can share to your profile, with a group, or using a link to the post. In Lightning Experience, you can share posts with your followers and with groups. In both cases, comments aren’t shared. But a shared post links back to its original, where users can see the comments.
When you share a post, keep in mind:
- When you share with a group, you can share only with a group you’re a member of.
- You can’t share a post from a private group.
- You can’t share a post to a private group that includes external users.
- In Salesforce Classic, you can share a post to your own profile, but not to another person’s profile.
- In Salesforce Classic, you can share the original post, including any files and attachments, but you can’t share any comments or likes.
- In Lightning Experience, you share only the post. Attachments, comments, and likes aren’t shared.
- You can comment on a shared post.
- In Lightning Experience, when you edit the original of a post that’s shared, the shared version is updated.
- You can’t share feed tracked items and custom feed items, such as approvals, dashboard snapshots, or case interactions.
- You can't share a post from a record feed.
- Only Chatter users inside your company can see a post that you shared through a link in an email or an instant message.
The Chatter email notification setting for post sharing applies only to posts shared in Salesforce Classic. If notification for sharing is enabled, when someone shares your post in Salesforce Classic, you receive an email notification.
In Lightning Experience, when someone shares your post, you don’t receive an email notification.

In Salesforce Classic, copy a public Chatter post to your profile to share it with the people who follow you. - Share a Chatter Post with a Chatter Group
You can share posts with public Chatter groups and groups that you’re a member of. You can’t share a post to a private Chatter group that includes external users. You can share public posts, but you can’t share feed tracked items and custom feed items, like approvals, dashboard snapshots, or case interactions. You can’t share posts with archived or unlisted groups or private groups that include external users. A post’s comments aren’t shared. But the shared post links back to the original, where comments are available. In Salesforce Classic, files attached to the shared post are included, but in Lightning Experience, attached files aren’t shared. - Share a Link to a Chatter Post
In Salesforce Classic, share a post with other Chatter users via email or instant message. - Share a Link to the Detail View of a Chatter Post
The Share feature in the Chatter publisher includes a Copy Link option. Use it to grab a link that jumps directly to the detail view of a post. Copying places the link on your clipboard. You can paste the link wherever you like. Paste it in the Chatter publisher to see a preview of the post that you’re linking to. - View a Single Chatter Post
You can navigate to a detailed view of a Chatter post in a feed for a user, record, or group.
