          Post an Announcement to a Chatter Group

          Post group announcements to highlight important messages on the group page.

          Required Editions

          Available in: both Salesforce Classic and Lightning Experience
          Available in: Essentials, Group, Professional, Enterprise, Performance, Unlimited, Contact Manager, and Developer Editions

          Note By default, groups use the global publisher layout. If the Announcement action doesn’t appear in groups, ask your administrator to override the global publisher layout. Then have them add the Announcement action to a custom group publisher layout.

          Only group owners, group managers, and users with the “Modify All Data” permission can post and delete group announcements.

          1. On the group page, click Announcement in the publisher.
          2. Enter your announcement. The character limit is 5,000, and you can include links or mention users and groups. Because of space constraints, approximately 137 characters of the announcement appears on the group page. Users can click More to see the rest of the message.
          3. Specify an expiration date for the announcement.
          4. Click Share.

          A group announcement appears until 11:59 p.m. on the selected expiration date, unless a new group announcement replaces it. In the group feed, users can discuss, like, and post comments on announcements. When you post an announcement, group members receive an email notification, just like they do for other posts, depending on their notification settings.

          Deleting the feed post deletes the announcement. From Salesforce Classic, you can remove the announcement from the group page without deleting the feed post. Click Feed drop-down arrow in the top corner of the announcement, and then select the option to dismiss the banner.

          Note
          Note Rich text is not currently supported in Chatter Announcements. Even if the user edits the related feed post to add rich text, the new edits aren’t applied to the announcement card.

          Send Email Notifications for Announcements

          For group announcements, group owners and managers can send email notifications to all group members, despite the members’ notification settings. Previously, only group members who opted to be notified for each post in the group were notified. Group owners and managers require the “Send announcement emails” permission to use the send email feature. To notify all group members, select Email all group members next to the announcement expiration date.

          Note The Email all group members feature is available only to groups with fewer than 10,000 members.
