          Adjustment Objects

          Adjustment Objects

An adjustment object represents discounts applied to an order or order product. Adjustment summary objects provide a dynamic view of adjustments.

To represent multiple discounts to a single product, each discount has a corresponding order product adjustment line item record.

To represent adjustments to multiple order products or an entire order, Order Management creates an order adjustment group that associates all related adjustments. For example, an order is ingested with a 10% discount across the entire order. A 10% discount order product adjustment is created for each product in the order, and an order adjustment group represents these individual adjustments. For more information, see the OrderAdjustmentGroup object.

When a discount is added in Order Management via the discount flow, an order product adjustment line item is created for each adjustment. These adjustments aren’t grouped in an order adjustment group.

Adjustment objects represent purely financial changes, not other changes that affect payments, such as returns and cancellations. The change orders representing those changes include financial information, so adjustment objects aren’t needed.

          Note
Note An adjustment can also represent a fee added to an order or order product, but that isn’t common.
