          Filter the Segment and Publish to Marketing Cloud Engagement

          After you create a segment, you can narrow the audience by adding filters. For this use case, you filter by job title and whether the person has opted in to receive emails.

          1. In Data 360, on the Segments tab, select the Upcoming Contract Renewals segment.
          2. In the Activations section of the segment record, click New.
          3. Select a Marketing Cloud Engagement activation target, the destination of the segment data.
            1. For the activation membership, select Account Contact.
            2. Click Continue.
          4. Click + Select for Email as the contact point (channel).
            1. Confirm the email address path and source priority order, and then click Next.
          5. Curate the activated members by selecting attributes to filter the activation membership DMO. Under Activation Membership, click Add Filters.
            1. Drag the Title attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Decision Maker.
            2. Click Done, and then click Save.
          6. To determine which contact points are chosen for a member, under Contact Points, click Add Filters, and select the attributes.
          7. To manage consent, go to the Contact Point Consent DMO (L3).
            1. Drag the Data Use Purpose attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Contract.
            2. Drag the Consent Status attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            3. Click Done.
          8. Filter for Communication Subscription Consent. Go to the Communication Subscription Consent DMO (L4).
            1. Drag the Communication Subscription attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Contract Renewal.
            2. Drag the Consent Status attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            3. Click Done.
            4. Make sure the AND operator is selected between the two DMOs.
            5. Click Save.
          9. Under Contact Point, the value is 1 for Max. # of Attribute Values because only one value is sent for each contact point channel. For Sort By, select Last Modified Date and the Most Recent operator to organize your data.
          10. Add attributes for personalization.
            The email template has placeholders for the customer’s name and contract expiration date.
            1. At the top of the screen, click Add Attributes.
            2. From the direct attribute list, select First Name and Last Name.
            3. From the related attribute list, click Account DMO, select Contract Name and Contract Renewal Expiration Date.
            4. Click Save.
          11. Under Attributes, the value is 5 for Max # of Attribute Values since you may have multiple contracts renewing for each customer. For Sort By, select the Last Modified Date attribute and the Most Recent operator to organize your data.
          12. Click Next.
          13. Name the activation Upcoming Contract Renewals and add a description.
            1. Select Incremental Refresh.
            2. Click Save.

          The activation is sent to Marketing Cloud Engagement.
