Filter the Segment and Publish to Marketing Cloud Engagement

Filter the Segment and Publish to Marketing Cloud Engagement

After you create a segment, you can narrow the audience by adding filters. For this use case, you filter by consent status and whether the person has opted in to receive emails.

          1. In Data 360, on the Segments tab, select the New Service Promo segment.
          2. In the Activations section of the segment record, click New.
          3. Select a Marketing Cloud Engagement activation target, which is the destination of the segment data.
            1. For the activation membership, select Unified Individual.
            2. Click Continue.
          4. Click + Select for Email as the contact point (channel).
            1. Confirm the email address path and source priority order, and then click Next.
          5. Under Contact Points, click Add Filters.
          6. To manage consent, go to the Contact Point Consent DMO (L3).
            1. Drag the Data Use Purpose attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Marketing.
            2. Click Done.
            3. Drag the Consent Status attribute to the segment canvas, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            4. Make sure the attributes have an AND operator, and click Done.
          7. Click the Communication Subscription Consent DMO (L4).
            1. Drag the Communication Subscription attribute, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Service Newsletters.
            2. Click Done.
            3. Drag the Consent Status attribute, select the Is Equal To operator, and enter the value Opt In.
            4. Make sure the attributes have an AND operator, and click Done.
          8. Select the AND operator for the two DMOs.
          9. Click Save.
          10. Under Contact Point, the value is 1 for Max. # of Attribute Values because only one value is sent for each contact point channel. For Sort By, select the Last Modified Date attribute and the Most Recent operator to organize your data.
            1. Click Continue.
          11. The campaign has placeholders for personalization to include the customer’s first name, last name, and the customer’s current services. To make sure this information gets sent to Marketing Cloud Engagement, add attributes to the activation. Click Add Attributes.
            1. In addition to Unified Individual, in the direct attribute list select First Name and Last Name and drag it to the segment canvas.
            2. In the related attribute list, navigate to Services, select Purchased Service, and select a path.
            3. Click Save.
          12. Under Attributes, the value is 5 for Max # of Attribute Values since you may have multiple services for each customer. For the Sort By field, select Last Modified Date, and then Most Recent to define how to sort the date.
          13. Name the activation New Service Promo, and click Done.

The activation is sent to Marketing Cloud Engagement.
