In most cases, a data model object’s category can’t be changed after the object is
created. The category can be changed only if it’s changing from Profile to Other or from Other
to Profile on an object that isn’t used in segmentation or activation.
Required Editions
Available in: Developer, Enterprise, Performance, and Unlimited
Editions with a Data Cloud license.
Note For Salesforce Customer Data Platform orgs, category selection affects how data lake
objects (DLOs) that are mapped to data model objects (DMOs) are counted for profile billing
purposes.
Change Category from Profile to Other or from Other to Profile
On the Data Model tab, select an object.
From the Actions menu, select Edit Category.
Select the Object Category.
Alternatively, to change the category of a DMO, you can delete existing field mappings to
the DMO. The DMO becomes inactive with the object category set to UNASSIGNED. Then remap the
DMO to a DLO with a new category. The DMO inherits the category of the new DLO.
