          Capping Communications for B2C Engagements

          Set caps on communications with B2C customers, leads, or prospects to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, enhance the customer experience, and avoid message fatigue. Optimize your campaign spend budgets across lines of business by applying department-level thresholds. Stay compliant with regulatory requirements by avoiding unsolicited, unregulated communications to targeted entities.

          Use the Data Cloud Communication Capping feature to configure thresholds, frequencies, and capping rules.

          • Configure Communication Capping Parameters and Values
            Define Communication Capping parameters such as channels and departments that are relevant to your organization and business strategy. You must configure the capping parameters and values before creating capping rules. 
          • Create a Communication Capping Configuration
            Create the communication capping configuration and associate it with a data space in Data Cloud. You can apply it to either all configured parameters or a specific subset. Each organization is limited to one active communication capping configuration.
          • Manage a Communication Capping Configuration
            Each organization is limited to one active communication capping configuration in Data Cloud. If you want to modify the dimensions in a communication capping configuration, create another communication capping configuration. To create another one, you must disable the active communication capping configuration.

            Create capping rules to apply to the communication capping activation targets in Data Cloud. You can create a capping rule in the UI or by uploading a JSON file with the rule conditions. You can apply rules individually at each parameter level or cumulatively at the enterprise level.

            Create a governed target for which segment membership is prioritized and filtered during activation in Data Cloud. You can set a cap for Marketing Cloud Engagement, Microsoft Azure, and SFTP targets.
