Use an Alias for a Salesforce CRM Connection
As of July ‘24, an alias is required when setting up a Salesforce CRM connection. Existing connections aren't assigned an alias. The names of the data stream and data lake object are derived from the alias.
When you create an alias for the Salesforce CRM connection, the default data stream name and data lake object name are appended with the alias that you create. For example, if the connection is to the org MyCompany and the alias is SourceOrg, the data steam name and data lake object label for the Account are Account_SourceOrg.
For connections that were created before the alias feature was available, no alias is assigned and the default data stream name and data lake object API name are appended with the org ID of the data source. For example, if the connection is to the org MyCompany and the org ID is 00DOK00129XWZ, the data stream name and data lake object name for the Account are Account_00DOK00129XWZ.
By default, your home org connection is given the alias Home when the org is provisioned with Data Cloud.
You define the alias during the connection creation process. Select a name carefully, because after the connection is established, the alias can't be changed.
