          Data Objects in Data 360

When working with Data 360, it’s helpful to know about Data 360 data objects including data lake objects (DLO) and data model objects (DMO).

          Object Description NOTES
Data lake object (DLO) A container for the data brought into Data 360. A DLO is automatically created from data brought into Data 360, but can also be created manually.
Unstructured data lake object (UDLO) A container for unstructured data referenced by Data 360. A UDLO is created manually.
Data model object (DMO) A harmonized grouping of data created from data streams, insights, and other sources. A DLO is mapped to a DMO.
Unstructured data model object (UDMO) A group of data created from an unstructured data source. A UDLO is automatically mapped to an existing or new UDMO.
External data lake object A storage container with metadata for the data federated from an external data source. An external DLO acts as a reference, and points to the data physically stored in an external data source.

          View Your Objects

Use the Data Model tab to view DMOs. Use the Data Lake Objects tab to view all DLOs and the DMOs that they’re mapped to, create DLOs, or to add fields to your DLOs. To view the recent status of that object, the previously refreshed date, and all associated mappings to DMOs, select the DLO name. You can also view the mapping that’s performed on the object. You can't delete the DLO fields.

If a DLO is associated with a data stream, you can’t add fields to it from the Data Lake Objects tab. Make these updates on the Data Streams tab. For more information, see Using an Existing Data Lake Object to Create a Data Stream.
