Understand Data Spaces in Companion Orgs

Understand Data Spaces in Companion Orgs

Metadata is synced only between a Data 360 home org and its connected companion org when the metadata part of a data space that is shared with the companion org. Metadata syncing enables companion orgs to reference data in Data 360 objects in shared data spaces.

What happens when I share a data space?

A data space with the same name is created on your companion org. Your companion org can access Data 360 metadata, objects, and records associated with the data space for use in Data 360-powered features.

Which data spaces should I share with the companion org?

Select only the data spaces that you need to ingest data into or that contain metadata, objects, and records that you want to share with the companion org. To avoid unnecessary processing costs, don’t select data spaces that you don’t need.

What happens if I don't share any data spaces with a companion org?

If you don't share any spaces with a companion org, the companion org's connection isn't active and doesn't sync metadata with Data 360. If you aren't sharing data spaces, the connection status shows Incomplete.

What happens when I unshare a data space?

When you unshare a data space that was synced with a companion org, your Data 360 home org doesn't ingest metadata that was stored in that data space, the metadata is deleted from the companion org, and the data space is deleted from the companion org. If you unshare all the data spaces, the companion connection is no longer active.
