Extract Mode for a Marketing Cloud Engagement Data Extension in Data 360
Marketing Cloud Engagement Connector Extract mode dictates how Data 360 exports and imports data from Marketing Cloud Engagement.
Data 360 Engagement connector communicates with the source system on your behalf, but sometimes needs your help on source-specific concepts like extract settings. Engagement generates datasets based on the extract setting that you choose. If you choose data that reflects only new or updated records, there’s increased efficiency because there are fewer extracted records for the run.
Refresh Mode in Data 360 dictates how incoming data interacts with the data lake object (DLO). Use Refresh Mode to indicate if incoming data adds or updates previously sent data or replaces it with a new snapshot.
Extract settings correspond to how Engagement exports data. Refresh settings represent how that data is imported. If the Full Refresh extract is configured for Engagement, choose a Full Refresh import in Data 360. And a delta extract, reflecting new or updated records, is associated with an Upsert import in Data 360.
To extract data from Engagement, use a Full Refresh for all data to be available all the time. To extract data incrementally, use Numeric CDC or Date Time CDC. You can anchor each extract to the high-water mark for a column in the raw data.
