            Accessibility Support in Tableau Semantics

            Use keyboard shortcuts in the semantic model editor to improve productivity. Navigate between different panels, perform actions on the canvas, and manage objects using only your keyboard.

            • The Option key is used on macOS. On Windows, use the Alt key instead.
            • You must focus on the appropriate section (canvas or panel) for shortcuts to take effect.

            Global Shortcuts

            Use these shortcuts to move between the main parts of the Semantic Model interface or to perform key actions at the model level.

            ACTION DESCRIPTION Shortcut
            Open Help menu Displays the shortcut help overlay with a list of available key commands. Option + Shift + H
            Focus on canvas Moves focus to the canvas area so you can navigate and interact with tables. Option + Shift + C
            Focus on left panel Moves focus to the list of model objects on the left side of the screen. Option + Shift + L
            Return to Semantic Layer list Returns to the main list of semantic models, closing the current editor view. Option + Shift + B
            Edit model name Places the model name in edit mode so you can rename it using the keyboard. Option + Shift + N

            Canvas Shortcuts

            These shortcuts help you zoom in and out of the model canvas or add relationships between objects.

            ACTION DESCRIPTION Shortcut
            Open the Add Relationship dropdown Opens the relationship creation menu to connect tables using defined keys. Option + Plus (+)
            Zoom in Increases the zoom level to get a closer view of the canvas. Shift + Plus (+)
            Zoom out Decreases the zoom level to view more of the model layout. Shift + Minus (-)
            Zoom to fit screen Resets the zoom level to fit the entire canvas within your visible screen. Shift + Zero (0)

            Left Panel Shortcuts

            Use these shortcuts to navigate and manage the objects listed in the left panel of the semantic model editor.

            ACTION DESCRIPTION Shortcut
            Move down the list of objects Moves selection down to the next item in the list. Down Arrow
            Move up the list of objects Moves selection up to the previous item in the list. Up Arrow
            Expand object Expands the selected object to show its fields, dimensions, or sub-elements. Right Arrow
            Collapse object Collapses the selected object to hide its details. Left Arrow
