Published Data Source (PDS) Authentication Troubleshooting Guide
Understand and resolve common authentication errors when setting up your Published Data Source (PDS) integration.
For detailed setup instructions, refer to the Create a Semantic Model from a Tableau Published Data Source (PDS) article.
The table lists common authentication errors and suggested solutions.
| Error message | Suggested solution |
|---|---|
| Authentication failed when attempting to connect to Tableau Cloud | Incorrect values prevent the authentication handshake from completing. Verify that the Site ID and Site URL you entered are valid and match your Tableau site settings. |
| Error fetching the connected app JWT keys | The JSON Web Key Set (JWKS) URI must match exactly for authentication to work. Tableau Site Admin: In your Tableau site, open the connected app that's configured for your Salesforce org. Paste the JWKS URI again and verify it's correct. |
| The Tableau Embedding feature is disabled, please enable it in the settings | Salesforce uses the Tableau Embedding feature mapping to authenticate users with Tableau Cloud. Salesforce Admin: In Salesforce Setup, go to the Tableau Embedding page, select Enable, and map the Salesforce User field to the corresponding Tableau User field. Then verify a Connected App is configured and enabled in your Tableau site. |
| The Tableau Connected App is disabled, please enable it in the Tableau settings | You must enable the Connected App for authentication to work. Tableau Site Admin: On your Tableau site, edit the Connected App that's set up for your Salesforce org and select Enable. |
| Failed to verify issuer URL, please verify the configured issuer URL in the Tableau Connected App | The Issuer URL must identify your Salesforce org to Tableau Cloud. Tableau Site Admin: Confirm the Connected App is correctly configured and enabled with the required Issuer URL. Re-paste the Issuer URL value from Salesforce Setup into the Connected App in Tableau Cloud to ensure there are no typos or extra spaces. |
| Invalid Tableau user identity, please confirm the mapped Tableau user has access to the Tableau site | The user must exist in Tableau Cloud and have site access for authentication to succeed. Salesforce Admin: Verify that the mapped Tableau user value is valid for this user and that the user has the required access permissions for the relevant Tableau site. |
| JWT Generation failed | This error typically indicates a configuration problem that requires technical investigation. Contact Salesforce Support for assistance with this issue. |
| Missing one of the mandatory query parameters: siteld or siteUrl | For API calls only: Make sure you use the correct site URL and Site ID. The
site URL must be in the format |
