          Tag Propagation in Data 360

          Tag Propagation in Data 360

Tag propagation helps maintain consistent data classification by extending tags from a primary data object to related or downstream objects and fields. This ensures that related objects in your data model carry the same metadata labels and reduces the need for repetitive tagging.

There are two types of tag propagation in Data 360.

          Manual Propagation

Propagate tags manually from a primary data object, such as a data model object (DMO), to its downstream DMOs. This method is useful when you add new tags to the source after the related objects are created.

          Automatic Propagation

Data 360 automatically propagates tags to DMOs that are generated from defined process definitions such as segments, calculated insights, data streams, and identity resolution. It applies tags from the source object to these generated DMOs. For example, when identity resolution runs, it generates a unified individual DMO by merging multiple records into a single profile. It can also create engagement DMOs, such as Email Engagement, which show calculated metrics such as open rates or visit counts. In these cases, Data 360 automatically applies tags from the source individual DMO to the generated DMOs.
