If you’re using hierarchical aggregation, map the Account ID and Parent Account fields on the Data Model tab. See Map Data Model Objects.
- On the Segments tab, locate the segment that you want to create a container for.
- From the dropdown menu, click Edit Rules.
- To add a container to the segmentation canvas, drag a related attribute from the library.
- In the container, add attributes, select the type of aggregation, and define filters.
- If the container has more than one access path to the segmentation entity, select a container path.
- To edit or delete a filter, use the icons in the container header.
- To define segment filters based on aggregate values across multiple levels, select
Hierarchical Aggregation. You can use hierarchical aggregation with segments that are based on Account and Unified Account. You can create up to five containers, and each DMO can have up to three hierarchical levels. If you exceed this limit, an error message appears when you attempt to save the segment filter definition.

To use a batch segment output in a real-time segment:
- Under Related Attributes, find your segment membership DMO, which ends with Latest. For example, Individual Latest.
- Create a rule where Segment Id equals the name of the batch segment ID you want to use as output.
- Save your changes, and recount your population.
- To finalize the segment, click Done.
- View Filter and Container Level Counts
Use the population counts displayed in the ribbon under each filter or container to evaluate their impact on your segment. Filter-level counts apply to direct attributes; container-level counts apply to related attributes (containers). Counts are available on both the Include and Exclude tabs.
