What’s an Experience Cloud Site Moderator?
Experience Cloud site moderators help ensure the success of a site by monitoring user activity and flagged items.
In a successful site, members are actively engaged and communicate with one another. Moderators facilitate knowledge sharing to help members benefit and derive value from their participation. Moderators also ensure that all communications and content are appropriate.
A moderator can control the quality of the site’s content by:
- Reviewing and acting on the list of flagged posts and comments
- Reviewing and acting on the list of flagged files
- Removing flags
- Deleting inappropriate posts, comments, messages, and files
A moderator can help drive the success of a site by:
- Sharing relevant and useful information in posts
- Encouraging members to post and comment on each other's posts
- Setting an example by their activity
- Keeping discussions focused, spam-free, and non-controversial
- Redirecting email conversations to sites when it can benefit other members
- Establishing the site as a reliable source of information and a forum for transparent discussions
You can choose to designate more than one moderator, especially if the site has a large number of members.
Which Users Can Moderate a Site?
Multiple types of users can moderate an Experience Cloud site. Moderators can continue to flag items even if flagging is disabled for members. Group owners and group managers can only moderate when flagging is enabled.
- Internal Users—Moderators can be internal users who are also members of your site.
- External Users—Moderators who are external users require Access Experience Management and moderation permissions to moderate a site from the Moderation tile in Experience Workspaces. External user moderators without management and moderation permissions can moderate within the context of their Experience Cloud site, such as directly from the site feed.
- Group Manager or Owner—The Allow members to flag content option must be enabled for group managers and owners to moderate. Group managers or owners can only moderate items in groups that they manage or own.
This table shows who can moderate and what actions they can take in the user interface.
