          Enable Patients to Schedule Their Own Appointments

          Many patients and plan members prefer the control and convenience of booking their appointments online rather than working through a call center. Set up an Experience Cloud site to enable patients or their caregivers to find time slots and book appointments with providers on their own, using a configurable Omnistudio flow.

          Self-service appointments require Omnistudio. Omnistudio provides interface components you can customize to enable users to book their own appointments through your Experience Cloud site.

          1. Give Authenticated Users Access to Self-Scheduling
            Create a profile with the required permissions. Set up sharing settings, sharing rules, and sharing sets. Enable self-scheduling workflows for external use.
          2. Create Appointment Reasons and Engagement Channel Types
            Create appointment reasons to give patients easy-to-understand options when they book appointments through an Experience Cloud site. When a patient selects an appointment reason, it connects to the underlying work type to fetch available time slots. Use engagement channels to designate the channel for the appointment; such as in-person, video, and phone. The final step is to connect the appointment reason with the engagement channel type so that the scheduler is shown appointment slots that meet both criteria.
          3. Set Up an Experience Cloud Site for Self-Scheduling
            Build an online space for patients and caregivers to schedule their own appointments.
          4. Give Guest Users Access to Self-Scheduling
            Give guest users who schedule their own appointments access to required objects and the self-scheduling Experience Cloud site.
          5. Configure Optional Self-Scheduling Features
            Customize self-service appointment flows and manage cases related to self-service appointments. Add support for Google maps data and add provider portal scheduling.
          6. Test Self-Scheduling
            Create a community user and then log in to your Experience Cloud site and test self-scheduling flows. If you customized flows in a sandbox environment, move components to a production environment.
