          Required Editions

          Available in: Lightning Experience

Available in: Enterprise and Unlimited Editions with Health Cloud or Life Sciences Cloud

          User Permissions Needed
To administer Health Cloud: Health Cloud Foundation permission set
To use Data Processing Engine: Data Pipelines Base User permission set
To enable Data Pipelines: Customize application user permission

The setting that enables Provider Search creates a Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition. The DPE definition transforms data from contact, account, healthcare provider, and healthcare practitioner facility records to searchable Care Provider Searchable Field records. It synchronizes data one time per day. Or you can manually sync data at any time.

Avoid using numbers in multi-select picklist fields. The standard Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition doesn’t sync such values. For example, a multi-select picklist field value such as Child (5-12) appears in a Care Provider Searchable Field record as Child (-)

          Important
Important If your org existed before Winter '23, you're using legacy Provider Search. Enabling this setting irreversibly disables legacy Provider Search.
          1. From Setup, in the Quick Find box, enter Provider Search, and then select Provider Search Settings. The page shows the guided setup steps.
          2. On the Provider Search settings page, enable Standard Provider Search Data Sync.
          3. To improve the accuracy of search results when users search by values in a text field or a text area field that accepts multiple values, enable Provider Search Precise Matching.
            Note
Note The Provider Search Precise Matching setting doesn’t apply to searches run in the Criteria-Based Search and Filter component.
          4. Follow the guided setup steps to configure Provider Search.
            1. Click Data Setup and follow steps to set up facilities and practitioners and sync data. The data setup and sync tasks are required.
            2. To use Criteria-Based Search and Filter, click Criteria-Based Search and Filter and follow steps to configure search criteria, a searchable object, and search actions.
            3. To provide the search experience to guest users on Experience Cloud sites, click Guest Experience and enable access to Provider Search for guest users.
            4. To create custom data transformations for Provider Search, click Custom Data Processing Engine Definition and clone the standard Data Processing Engine (DPE) definition. Then customize the definition to suit your business needs.
