Sharing Settings for Automotive Cloud Objects

Sharing Settings for Automotive Cloud Objects

Review the organization-wide default sharing settings to understand the minimum level of access for each object in Automotive Cloud. You can extend the default level of access to your users, both internal and external. You can, of course, also use permission sets, sharing rules, role hierarchies, or Experience Cloud site sharing sets to fine-tune access beyond the organization-wide default options.

          Required Editions

Available in: Enterprise, Unlimited, and Developer Editions.

For most objects, organization-wide sharing settings can be set to Private, Public Read Only, or Public Read/Write. If the organization-wide sharing setting for an object is Private or Public Read Only, an admin can grant users additional access to records by setting up a role hierarchy or defining sharing rules.

However, sharing rules can only be used to grant additional access—they can’t be used to restrict access to records beyond what was originally specified with the organization-wide sharing defaults. Admins can set different levels of access for internal, external, and guest users.

Internal Access applies to Users who work in your company and use the Automotive app. External Access applies to Users who don't work for your company and use an Experience Cloud site, such as a dealer user or a customer.

Review the recommended level of access for both internal and external users. Note that these are recommendations and you can modify the access based on your business structure and requirements
