Goodwill Repair
Dealers or original equipment manufacturers can use the Goodwill Repair service process to support customers who request repair assistance for their vehicles or assets. Through this process, dealers can select the customer's vehicle or asset, review existing warranty coverage, choose the relevant work order, and capture comments to support the goodwill request. A case is then created for the Warranty Administrator, who reviews the customer's claim history and past work orders, assessing the request in the context of the customer's service relationship and prior repair patterns. The Warranty Administrator decides whether a goodwill claim should be raised, determines the contribution percentages to apply to each line item, and records the reasoning behind those decisions. This ensures that goodwill is extended consistently and fairly, helping strengthen customer loyalty while maintaining clear governance over discretionary repair costs.

- Customize the Goodwill Repair Flow for Dealers
For original equipment manufacturers (OEM), users are usually identified through Partner User records, where the Account is directly linked to the User profile. For dealerships, users are usually Standard Users. Since Standard User records don't natively link to a dealership Account, use the Branch Management data model to identify the dealership that the user represents. Update the Create Goodwill Repair Claim flow for enabling this.

- Select the work order line items applicable for goodwill.
-
Enter the Dealer and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) contribution percentages
against each selected work order line item, as relevant.

- Add a summary, if required.
- Click Next.
-
Confirm and finish the work item.
After the submission is successful, a claim is submitted and the total claimed amount and payment detail records are updated automatically. A customer brings their Neo Engine S95 asset to Dream Dallas Dealers for a repair request. The dealer raises a Goodwill Repair request on behalf of the customer, as the asset's warranty coverage does not fully address the repair costs.
The dealer creates a work order for the repair with the following five work order line items:
- Engine oil seal replacement
- Cylinder head gasket repair
- Fuel injector cleaning
- Coolant pump replacement
- Air filter replacement
After initiating the goodwill repair service process from Action Launcher, the dealer selects three of the five line items, Engine oil seal replacement, Cylinder head gasket repair, and Coolant pump replacement, as eligible for goodwill consideration and submits the request along with supporting comments.
A case is created and routed to the Warranty Administrator at Neo Motors.
The Warranty Administrator reviews the customer's claim history and past work orders, and determines the contributions for each selected line item as follows:
| Work Order Line Item | Dealer Contribution | OEM Contribution |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil seal replacement | 40% | 50% |
| Cylinder head gasket repair | 30% | 60% |
| Coolant pump replacement | 50% | 30% |
On submission, the system generates the following records for the goodwill request:
- 1 Claim record against the work order.
- 1 Claim Item that consolidates the goodwill request.
- 3 Claim Coverage records, one for each selected line item, capturing the Dealer and OEM contribution percentages.
- 3 Claim Coverage Payment Detail records, capturing the payment breakdown for each contribution.
This enables Neo Motors to extend goodwill support to the customer in a structured manner, while maintaining clear governance over the dealer and OEM contribution shares for each repair line item.
