          Set Up Products and Assets

          Requirement Action Example
          A manufacturer wants to represent each vehicle model and also the specification for each part installed in a vehicle. Multiple vehicles can be related to a single vehicle model and multiple parts can be related to a single parts specification. Create Product records to represent vehicles and parts. Create Serialized Product records and link them to the Product record. Neo Motors creates two products for Neo Sports Y priced at $52,000, and Neo Engine S95 priced at $8,000.
          A manufacturer wants to model multiple products under a product family. A product family is collection of related products. Create picklist values for the Product Family field in the Product object. Neo Motors creates the Neo Sports product family to group the vehicle products, and the Neo Sports Parts product family to group the vehicle parts.
          A manufacturer wants to model physical items of commercial value that’s manufactured, delivered, sold to a customer, or installed as a part of another asset.           Neo Motors creates product fault codes to associate the following with each other:

          • Overheating Engine code set with the Neo Engine S95 product
          • Damaged Headlights code set with the Neo Sports Y product
          A manufacturer wants to associate a code set on a labor service with a product or a product family and specify estimated effort. Create a Product Labor Code record.

          Neo Motors creates product labor codes to associate the following with each other:

          • Coolant Refill code set with the Neo Engine S95 product
          • Headlights Repair code set with the Neo Sports Y product
          A manufacturer wants to create a relationship between two code sets, such as a product labor code and a product fault code. Create a Codeset Relationship record.

          Neo Motors creates code set relationships to associate the following code sets with each other:

          • Damaged Headlights code set with the Headlights Repair code set

          A manufacturer wants to associate a warranty term to a product or product family. Create a Product Warranty Term record. Neo Motors associates the Neo Engine Warranty with the Neo Engine S95 product.
          A manufacturer wants to associate a warranty term to an asset and define extended or restricted eligibility requirements or entitlements. Create an Asset Warranty record. Neo Motors creates an asset warranty to extend coverage of the warranty of the Neo Engine S95 asset. They extend the labor covered to 75% and expenses covered to 90%.
          A manufacturer wants to extend or restrict the coverage of warranty term based on product fault, labor effort required, or product part. Create a Warranty Term Coverage record.
